FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN..... IT IS TIME! That’s right! It is time to become what God is expecting of us to become. There is a need in this community for the truth of the gospel to be communicated and demonstrated. It needs to be communicated in a loving way. The world may not like what we saying to them, but they will know we are not saying it to condemn or belittle them.

The gospel also needs to be demonstrated to this community in such a way that they realize there is another way. They need to understand that there is a better way. This community is hurting. They don’t want or need to see hypocrisy, they need to see authenticity. They need to see an example of selfless love from each of us.

I must confess that there are times when I see so many people that do such bad things that I can become cynical. I don’t like to admit that, but it is true. Then, I remind myself of how Jesus answered the question from Peter in Matthew 18:21-22, about how many times he must forgive someone. Peter was being very religious when he offered to forgive 7 times. Jesus responded by saying that he ought to forgive 70 times 7. Understand, Jesus was not saying 490 times is the magical number for forgiveness. What He was saying was that the spirit of forgiveness really knows no limits.

Sunday morning, we will begin a revival. We will have an excellent revival team. We have excellent facilities. We will have an excellent opportunity to experience the presence of God. The question is, will we actually experience revival?

Over the last two months I have been asking you to do 3 things. I want to repeat them one more time. Please PRAY for yourself. Pray that the Holy Spirit would open you up and reveal God’s truth regarding your life, your family, and the church and the lost. Also, COMMIT to being involved with and participating in all the services. Finally, INVITE people to attend the revival services. If you know someone who is an unbeliever or currently unchurched, invite them to attend. Better yet, volunteer to bring them to revival.

Always remember that God loves you and I love you, Bro. David

BRO. BILL, Music & Education... is in the air!!  Next week we will gather for the series of services called “revival meetings.”  Will we experience a revival or just a collection of gatherings?  The answer to that question lies mostly within each of us as individuals.  Are we seeking a revival in our personal lives?  What about the life of our church?  What about the life of our community?  The experience of revival begins with each of us as individuals and then spreads to others through our contagious spirit and witness.

Coming out of this spirit of revival we are now ready to implement our church’s plan for reaching our community and connecting with those who visit our church.  Sunday, April 15, we will have a meeting/orientation of all those who are interested in showing our community that we truly care about them and that we genuinely want to connect with them.  This plan will have 4 tiers, or levels, of contact including telephone, doorstep visiting (not going inside for long conversation, simply a quick greeting and delivering a goodie bag), in-home visiting, and staff contact.  The Sunday School classes will play a critical role in this process, which is why every adult class has been asked to be sure they have a team of their class members enlisted and prepared to make visits to active prospects on behalf of the church and their class.  God is bringing visitors to our church, and through the course of revival meetings new prospects will be uncovered.  It is important that visitors are followed up with in a timely manner.  This community connection plan will provide a method to accomplish this.  Please prayerfully consider your involvement in this process.  It is imperative if our church is to grow not only in numbers but in her influence in the community.  Bro. David and I look forward to seeing many of you at the orientation meeting on April 15.

These next weeks are an opportunity for God to show us a glimpse of His will and plan.  This week revival, two weeks later, Easter and then we begin our intentional community connection plan.  God will keep His promises to bless and prosper us – will we do our part to nurture and grow His Kingdom, starting with ourselves?

OUTREACH PLANS..... We have a plan. Bro. Bill and I are proposing an outreach plan that will consist of 4 Tiers-

Tier 1 - Telephone Callers

Tier 2 - Door-step visitors

Tier 3 - Sunday School Class Visitors

Tier 4 - Follow-up by staff or ministry leader.

More Details to come.

DISASTER RELIEF MINISTRY..... For many years, Mississippi Baptists have sought to bring help, healing, and hope to those affected by disasters through the active response of many volunteers. Volunteers are sent out with training so that they can be most rapidly effective in a disaster response. We, at First Baptist of Gautier, have the tools and equipment to respond to hurricanes, tornados & floods. We will often help with some level of rebuild also. If you would like to respond with the Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief, please contact Stan Aycock at 228-217-6637.
