FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN

SO MUCH IS HAPPENING! I am excited about what is happening at FBCG. We have just gone through the Easter season and it was truly a joy to me. Now we are moving into the summer plans and activities. However, before we leave the spring events let me remind you of the SPRING FLING on Saturday, April 29. This is one of two events where we can invite the community of Gautier to FBCG and we can demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ and the fellowship of the people of FBCG. I know it takes a great deal of effort. I know we don’t always see a great response from the visitors after the event. But our job is to plant seeds when and where we can. This event, like the Fall Festival, is one of the ways we can successfully invite the community to the church. We need your help in succeeding with this event.

I am also wanting to remind you of the “Special Called” business meeting Sunday morning at the beginning of the morning worship service. The purpose of this meeting is to decide on a recommendation from the Committee On Committees regarding the proposed Church Directory Committee. Along with that recommendation, the Nominating Committee has one recommendation of change regarding the Associational Executive Committee representative for FBCG. I hope this will be a very short meeting so that we can get back to worship and Bible study.

May is going to be very busy as well. On May 14th we will celebrate Mother’s Day during the morning worship and a Teen Challenge Choir from Missouri will present a program during the evening worship. On May 21st, we will recognize our graduates. Then on May 28th, we will focus on a Memorial Day emphasis during the morning service. In the midst of all of that, we are also having CPR/AED and basic first-aid training on Saturday May 20th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Are you involved? If not, then why not? FBCG is providing opportunities from for you to grow in your faith and opportunities for you to serve the Kingdom of God.

Always remember that God loves you and I love you, Bro. David

BRO. BILL, Music & Education ...

As the school year winds down, summer plans begin to wind up.  This means it’s almost time for VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL!  There are still openings for volunteers to serve in any capacity- and we need you!  This is one of the strongest and most concentrated opportunities we have to reach children with the Gospel of Christ.  Your investment is only a week of mornings, but the return on your investment just may be the salvation of a child.  I can’t think of a more profitable investment than that – can you?

We have several exciting things coming in May – even before school is out!  This coming Sunday morning our children’s choir will be singing a song from their upcoming musical.  They are working very hard and it should be a wonderful presentation when the full musical is shared on May 21 in the evening service.  There are several other special events in May including Graduate Recognition during the morning service on May 21 and some special evening worship features.  The handbell choir will wrap up their season on May 14 – Mothers’ Day – as they play in worship.

This coming Saturday is the Spring Fling.  This is an opportunity for our community to get to know us – not as a building but as the people of Christ, loving and genuinely concerned for them.  If you haven’t already, make plans to participate.  The events run from 11 AM to 2 PM and there are always places where volunteers are needed to help.  Contact Francelle or just show up to volunteer.

There are exciting times at FBC with so much more ahead that we can only begin to imagine what great things God has in store!

NEWS FROM WAYNE’S WORLD

This is the time of year that we’re typically frantically trying to tie up any loose ends for our mission trip.  However, this year is a little different and a little less hectic.  This year we are participating in MissionLab.  The entire experience is based on worshipping God through song, through service, and through the ministry of the Word in preaching and group study times.  MissionLab involves hands-on interaction with the people and needs of the city of New Orleans.  Our group will work together as a team throughout the week, learning practical ways to express the love of Jesus to others while sharing a meaningful missions experience–an experience that will hopefully challenge them to carry it into their life back home.  Please encourage your students to participate in this life-changing event.  The date for MissionLab is June 18-23.

To help offset the cost of the trip we are having a veggie sale on Saturday, May 20, 9:00-12:00 in front of the daycare building.  This will be a “come and buy” sale.  We are not taking orders for this sale but will have product sheets available and we are taking phone numbers to call or text reminders to.  We plan to have all of our regular fruits and vegetables available.  Thanks for your support of our students.
